Latin Billboard Honors Wisin & Yandel with 5 Nominations
Categories include Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Duet, Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Reggaeton Song of the Year, Latin Ringtone of the Year, and Compilation of the Year
San Juan, Puerto Rico (Billboard Publicity Wire) February 20, 2007 -- The most prestigious publication in the music industry has honored Wisin and Yandel with five nominations for the Latin Billboard Awards. The Duo were nominated to the categories of Hot Latin Song of the Year - Vocal Duet for "Noche de Sexo" featuring Aventura; Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year; Reggaeton Song of the Year for "Pam Pam"; Latin Ringtone of the Year for "Rakata"; and Compilation of the Year for "Los Vaqueros." The awards will be presented on April 26 in the city of Miami.
"We are very happy and satisfied with the nominations received from Latin Billboard. These nominations reaffirm that our efforts and hard work have not been in vain and it motivates us to continue striving to offer the best of ourselves," stated Wisin & Yandel upon hearing the good news.
This week, the Duo is traveling to Panama and Venezuela for several performances and next week they will be in Miami attending the Lo Nuestro Awards, where Wisin & Yandel have been nominated in three categories: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
To commemorate St. Valentine's Day, the urban artists launched the remix of "Yo te quiero" with Luis Fonsi, the internationally renowned ballad singer. The song was recorded during the beginning of February and incorporates Luis Fonsi's unique style to the urban song that has caused a sensation among the public and music industry alike.
The Duo is also scheduled to visit Colombia to comply with several contractual commitments in the cities of Bogota, Cali, and Armenia. Once these commitments are finalized, Wisin & Yandel will return to the island to focus their efforts on the concerts, which are schedule to be held in the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum on March 16 and 17.
The production team is working hard to create a spectacular event," Wisin & Yandel stated. "We are meeting practically on a daily basis to go over the details, since this is a very complex production, which has required the recruitment of additional personnel and experts from other jurisdictions to guarantee that everything in this transcendental event is of the utmost quality," they added.
Paco López, who is producing the event, indicated that it would again include the musical direction Maestro Ángelo Torres and his band. Choreographer Juan Carlos García will be in charge of the stage setup and the 10 dancers participating in both concerts. In addition, renowned designer and stylist, Ed Coreano will design the artists' wardrobe for the concerts. The event will also feature special lighting effects, dry ice, pyrotechnic, and visuals that will add dynamic and colorful elements to the concerts.
Wisin & Yandel reiterated their satisfaction that only 5 weeks after the ticket sales for the concert began, a second event had to be opened due to the tremendous demand the concert has had.
