LIVE Launches Summer Stadium Swing On "The Rock 'N Roll Triple Play Ballpark Tour" Teams with Counting Crows, Collective Soul on 23-City Trek
Multi-platinum rockers LIVE swing for the fences this summer when they team with Counting Crows and Collective Soul for a six-week concert tour visiting 23 East Coast and Midwest ballparks, kicking off July 22 in Wilmington, DE and sliding home Sept. 2 in Fargo, ND.
Los Angeles (Billboard Publicity Wire) May 18, 2007 -- Multi-platinum rockers LIVE swing for the fences this summer when they team with Counting Crows and Collective Soul on "The Rock 'N Roll Triple Play Ballpark Tour." The six-week caravan rolls through 23 East Coast and Midwest cities, first stepping to the plate July 22 in Wilmington, DE and ultimately sliding home Sept. 2 in Fargo, ND.
With their soaring anthems and spiritual excursions, LIVE has been bringing nightclub intimacy to audiences of all sizes for two decades. "The Rock 'N Roll Triple Play Ballpark Tour" signals LIVE as a band of conviction, whose original members have steadfastly stayed together for 20 years, a rare event in the rock music world. One of the most inspiring acts of the modern rock era, LIVE remains frontman Ed Kowalczyk, guitarist Chad Taylor, bass player Patrick Dahlheimer, and drummer Chad Gracey.
"We're excited to be on this tour because we've traveled with Counting Crows in the past and it's always been fun, and with Collective Soul it's a really great bill." says lead singer Ed Kowalczyk. "We just love playing for new faces and in new places."
Since forming in middle school in York, PA, LIVE has become an international success.
The band came of age with the release of their debut album Mental Jewelry (1991). They broke worldwide with the follow up, Throwing Copper (1994), a multi-platinum No. 1 smash, which spawned the hits "I Alone," "All Over You," "Selling the Drama" and "Lightning Crashes." Secret Samadhi (1997) propelled by the hit single "Lakini's Juice," became LIVE's second successive No. 1 album. The Distance To Here (1999) delivered "The Dolphin's Cry," and V (2001) followed with "Overcome." Birds of Pray (2003) hit next with "Heaven." After the career-spanning Awake: The Best of Live (2004), LIVE delivered their seventh and most recent studio effort, Songs From Black Mountain (2006).
LIVE has sold over 20 millions CDs worldwide and scored No. 1 albums in many other countries, including Australia, Holland, South Africa, Canada, Belgium and New Zealand.
Millions of TV viewers were reminded of LIVE's incendiary reputation last year on American Idol, when finalist Chris Daughtry performed the band's rendition of Johnny Cash's "I Walk the Line." On the Season Finale, Daughtry invited LIVE onstage to perform their new song "Mystery" in front of a viewing audience that exceeded 50 million.
