K.O. and Producer OD Hunte Take it Back to the Hip Hop With New EP Release

After successfully placing his previous productions and collaborations in numerous high profile media such as American Pie 6 Beta House, Paula Abdul's Hey Paula and EA Sports NBA Live 07, Producer and platinum writer OD Hunte is gearing up to once again prove that independent unsigned artists can sit among the major label elite and compete based on the quality of music as opposed to marketing spend. His new four track EP 'Back to the Hip Hop' with 18 year old Swiss rapper K.O. is a prequel to the album to be released in 2009.

London, UK (Billboard Publicity Wire) October 27, 2008 -- After successfully placing his previous productions and collaborations in numerous high profile media such as American Pie 6 Beta House, Paula Abdul's Hey Paula and EA Sports NBA Live 07 ('Get Them Hands Hi' by Ten Days Till) and scores of scores of MTV shows and several other film and game projects, producer and Platinum writer OD Hunte is gearing up to once again prove that independent unsigned artists can sit among the major label elite and compete based on the quality of music as opposed to marketing spend. His new four track EP 'Back to the Hip Hop' with 18 year old Swiss rapper K.O. is a prequel to the album to be released in 2009.

Like other great story tellers such as Eminem, Lupe Fiasco and Jay-Z, Geneva-based K.O. reflects on his life through his rhymes and reveals the change in people's attitudes to him as his new found fame increases on 'Be Like This'. On 'The Art', K.O. discusses three elements of Hip Hop Hop culture:- rhyming, graffiti and production, while on 'Blow Up' he prophecies on his ascension to fame. The last track on the EP, 'I Gotta Go' describes his feeling of preparing for and being on a journey.

I'm being me, simple as that. I bring people my vision, my thoughts, and my experiences, and hope that people can relate to what I say
"I'm being me, simple as that. I bring people my vision, my thoughts, and my experiences, and hope that people can relate to what I say," states K.O. "Also the fact that many people in the game can only talk about specific things, such as cars they don't have, or money they don't have, I can talk about anything, because in my version of hip hop, it is meant for you to express what you're feeling, what's on your mind," K.O. suggests as the reason why his lyrical offerings are different from his contemporaries.

The pair met by chance through a recording session booked by K.O. who was visiting London and needed a place to record his rap vocals. OD Hunte recalls being fully booked but being persuaded to move his session back to accommodate the Swiss rapper. "I'm so glad I did cause when he played me what he had already recorded I asked myself whether I'd stumbled across the next Eminem," concludes OD.

K.O. and OD then went on to record over beats that were originally earmarked for Ludacris ("Blow Up") and Nikki Giavasis ("Be Like This" and "The Art") creating their own take on where modern Hip Hop should be going or returning to.

While "Back to the Hip Hop" with lead single "Blow Up" is a commercial pop hip hop collaborative effort, the rest of the EP effortlessly mixes oldskool sounding elements with modern and futuristic production. The same production skills which have helped OD to place his tracks in high profile US media such as MTV's The Hills, Yo Mama, EA sports Fight Night Round 3, Pimp My Ride, My Sweet 16, Date My Mom, Yo Mama and has seen OD place tracks in literally scores of other international shows and work with acts such as Leona Lewis, Leela James, Natalia Druyts, Mattafix, Nikitta Angus (X-Factor), Unkle Jam, Leon Jean Marie, Iceberg Slim and many others.

Back to the Hip Hop is released digitally on December 1, 2008.
