Hollywood Biographer Releases Rock CD

Hollywood biographer and university literature professor builds upon his experience as a Memphis musician in the 60's and releases a classic rock CD.

Memphis, TN (Billboard Publicity Wire) July 7, 2008 -- Bill Donati knows about archives. He spent years gathering information for books about Errol Flynn and Ida Lupino. But Dr. Donati, a university professor, was surprised to discover he was a subject of interest - to collectors of rock and roll music. "Memphis is hot once again," says Donati. "Music archivists are exploring Memphis vaults in search of past treasures."

Robert's Gordon book It Came From Memphis introduced the world to an unknown but colorful era in Memphis music culture. "I was part of it," says Donati. "Memphis garagebands are now recognized all over the globe." The Goatdancers, Donati's band, is on the new Thank You Friends, a two CD anthology from Ardent Records, whose acts include Big Star, a band made famous when its song 'In the Street' became the theme of That '70s Show. The Goatdancers are mentioned in Rolling Stone as "psych-pop hopefuls" produced by Jim Dickinson. "We were pre-punk, too way out for Memphis at the time, says Donati. "Our song 'Patches of Dust,' written by Terry Manning, blows listeners away."

Donati has released his own CD, Never Like This, a collection of seventies pop rock songs recorded at Ardent Studios, where stars as ZZ Top and Jimmy Page have recorded.

Never Like This is already getting airplay on internet stations, including Fab 4 Radio, a Beatles oriented station broadcast in fifty countries.
