Gamma Blast Debuts New, Leading Edge Service for North American Market

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 mandates that all new video programs, including news and movies shown on TV by a video programming provider must be captioned 100% with few exceptions; therefore, the arrival of high-definition technology requires closed captioning in HD.

Gamma Blast Manager Debbie Wamsley says the new service will make it easier for television producers and broadcasters who aren't on the coasts. "Most television producers and broadcasters now have to spend time and money to send their programs to New York or L.A. for HD captioning. Now they can get it in less time and for less money."
