Mountain Mirrors Introduces "Karmic Downloads"

Heavy acoustic band from the woods of Massachusetts releases both of their critically acclaimed CDs as FREE non-DRM MP3 CDs on their website and offer a shareware/donationware model for MP3 distribution.

Fairhaven, MA (Billboard Publicity Wire) March 25, 2007 -- Move over iTunes. Jeff Sanders of Mountain Mirrors has just announced "Karmic Downloads", a new incentive which makes the tracks from Mountain Mirrors' self-titled, second album much easier to find. The songs are available in convenient MP3 format at the bands website http://www.mountainmirrors.com, with no cash upfront - and no DRM copy protection.

Fans and potential fans are encouraged to download tracks such as "Karmic Dogs" and "Calm Before the Storm" for free and decide for themselves if this is music that speaks to them. They ask only that those who groove on what they hear return at a later date to buy the actual CD or make a small donation via Paypal®. Or, if money is an issue, Mountain Mirrors also encourages "Karmic Payment" in the form of sharing these mp3s with friends or posting something about them on your favorite forums and blogs.

Jeff Sanders says of the Karmic Downloads idea, "People shouldn't have to feel like crooks to be able to download and share music. You should be able to hear the whole thing, when you want, where you want as many times as you wish before you decide it's worth investing in the future of an artist. I'm lucky enough to be able to sell cd's even though people can get them for free. To those of you who buy my music and the people who spread the word about Mountain Mirrors I am grateful beyond words. I love you long time!"

To create this album Sanders worked in a collaborative style with a variety of musicians including; Elad Fish, Claire Fitch, Oren Selas and Guy Bar-Tor. This all-acoustic album is a departure from Mountain Mirrors previous release which utilized Massive Attack / Portishead style drum loops. Tracks on the new album involve themes that search the boundaries of good and evil.

Sanders credits the introduction of some new recording software entitled Reaper (http://www.reaper.fm/) with inspiring him to make this offer. It's creator, Justin Frankel (of Winamp fame) makes the software's demo unlimited and fully-functional to all, on a trial basis. The software is free for 30 days and then a small fee for licensing is requested. This is all based on the honor system. Jeff Sanders says, "I thought the idea of a trial based on Karma and trust was awesome, so I decided to try it with my music."

So check out the latest from Mountain Mirrors, it won't cost a thing!

"It is a perfect and delicious album to listen to and relax with a good glass of wine within reach."
- LordsofMetal

"The slightly folky acoustic guitars, sweet drum cadences, subtle keyboard sounds, and most importantly Sanders' otherwordly vocals, when combined, do invite comparisons to names like Opeth, Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, and even Alice In Chains' unplugged material, but overall, the music presented on this disc is in a league all its own."
- Sea of Tranquility

About Mountain Mirrors:
http://www.mountainmirrors.com/index.html
Jeff Sanders Mountain Mirrors started in the woods of Massachusetts with a Radio Shack keyboard, a four-track and a drum machine. Jeff Sanders, the man behind Mountain Mirror's eclectic mix of psychedelic-laced folk, has been entranced by music as long as he can remember. Jeff credits influences ranging from old school and Scandinavian metal to the acoustic work of Nick Drake and Damien Rice. It was this mix of influences that helped Jeff realize that a musician need not be tied to one genre or another but rather to create music that they feel inspired by and in turn hopefully inspire others. He has released two albums to date and is signed with Magnatune Records.
