Hollywood's Leading Online Music Venue Puts Artists and Fans in Control of Online Music Experience
LivefromTheGig.Com Introduces Expanded List of Online Features Giving Fans "Front Row" Access to some of the Best Unsigned Musicians, Bands and Indie-Label Acts.
Los Angeles (Billboard Publicity Wire) February 6, 2007 -- LivefromTheGig.com (www.LivefromTheGig.com), the pre-eminent live online music venue and the Internet arm of The Gig-Hollywood, Los Angeles' legendary live music venue, announced today the launch of its newly redesigned Web site and music store at LiveFromTheGig.com. Launched in May 2006, LivefromTheGig.com has rapidly become a mainstay of the independent music scene by broadcasting each evening's concert-quality lineup of live performances via Webcasts to a worldwide audience of online music enthusiasts and the independent music industry.
The site's new features give fans, artists, and the music industry unparalleled access to the independent music scene by putting users in control of their own online music experience. Users can customize what they watch, how they listen or even how to best promote their band's music, by taking advantage of the site's upgraded features which include audio uploads, music video downloads, a library of more than 500 hours of live archived performances, search functions, artist networking forums and community posting boards - all while retaining LivefromTheGig.com's signature live performance Web casts that stream from the club every night.
"From day one, LivefromThe Gig.com has always been about harnessing the power of the independent music scene and giving the culture additional legs to stand on," said renowned TV and film director and owner of The Gig, Peter O'Fallon, best-known for directing television favorites like "House," "Northern Exposure," the Sam Raimi-produced cult classic "American Gothic" and the feature film "Suicide Kings. "With today's announcement, we are glad to say that we are one step closer to fulfilling the promise of truly democratizing the independent music scene via the Internet."
As part of the site's new features, bands can now upload their audio performances, and will soon be able to upload video performances, by simply visiting LivefromTheGig.com -- without performing live at the The Gig-Hollywood -- which means added visibility for unsigned acts. In turn, music enthusiasts can log on to the site to download performances and music from their favorite artists, thumb through a catalog of the latest live acts, build their own library, interact with artists and chat with other music enthusiasts.
For Independent bands that perform live at The Gig, their acts are added to the live Web casting roster which is posted on the site each evening. Those performances are played in heavy rotation on the site's featured band section and can now be searched by artist, song and genre.
While showcasing artist's talents online is the true underpinning of LivefromTheGig.com, the full-service site goes beyond just providing bands with a virtual venue. O'Fallon also recently started offering tailored music services helping bands on the site book appearances and place their music in the movies and in films with which he is associated.
"Having played at venues all across the country, it's hard to compare The Gig to any other live-music venue. The new additions to the site make it easier to reach a wider audience and share all of our content, not just our performances at The Gig," said Brian Simpson, who frequently plays at The Gig. "We love that we can share all of our stuff - songs, performances and other videos - with our friends and fans back home."
LivefromTheGig.com's concerts feature performances from some of the best emerging artists from around the globe. To date, more than one thousand artists and bands, and independent music executives have leveraged the populist site to introduce their music to an enormous community of online music enthusiasts, at a low cost and without major label support.
In addition to these site upgrades, O'Fallon intends to continue providing incentives for up-and-coming bands to upload content including contests awarding the band with the most page views or downloads with an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles culminating with a live showcase at The Gig and many other exciting giveaways for bands and music lovers alike.
Users can learn more about the Web site or find instructions on how to be featured on the site by visiting www.LivefromTheGig.com. "Live from the Gig" is the flagship property of O' Fallon and his business partners' venture AlternaTV.TV.
