Tom Chelston Receives Two Entries in the Official 50th Grammy Awards Balloting

Former Soldier turned Singer-Songwriter-Peace Activist scores thought provoking music and a 2008 "Grammy" nod with his new CD, Brick.

Los Angeles, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) November 2, 2007 -- The Recording Academy® has released the official ballots for the 2008 Grammy Awards and Tom Chelston has garnered two entries in the following categories:

Category 3: Song Of The Year
Ballot Entry # 272
Tom Chelston- Impeach
(Award goes to Songwriter)

Category 69: Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album
(Vocal or Instrumental)
Ballot Entry # 029
Tom Chelston- Brick
(Award goes to Artist)

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will take place February 10, 2008.

Tom Chelston's 2007 release, Brick, (TomSongs®) has made its way around the world and back with CD sales and downloads in more than sixty countries. On the surface, Brick explores the unvarnished truth about the Iraq war and the events/aftermath of 9/11and Hurricane Katrina.

As a former Unites States Navy/ Marine Corps "Grunt" Corpsman, Tom Chelston served 6 years and patched up more than a few fellow soldiers along the way. The events of 9/11 combined with the American buildup to war in Iraq resonated deeply with Tom and the songs for this album began to take shape. Brick takes a hard look at war and personal loss. Among the tracks, the listener will discover "Veteran" about the soldiers that returned from war to find zero health benefits (and thousands of soldiers that didn't return). "Never Forget", offers a glimpse at the 9/11 families and their unique challenges as well as the heroes/first responders left behind with scarred lungs and no health coverage. The simple yet haunting "I Miss You" touches anyone who ever lost anyone. Brick also addresses our current presidential challenges with popular songs such as "Bushwhacked" and calls out for the ultimate constitutional remedy in the highly acclaimed and heavily downloaded Texas toe-tapper, "Impeach".

Brick is available at a variety of retail locations and through numerous online stores such as iTunes and CDBaby. Tracks are available for listening along with companion videos at MySpace and YouTube. More information about Tom Chelston and TomSongs at http://www.tomsongs.com.
