In Tune with Radiohead -- BooServer Launches Global Online Media Player and Chooses Limelight

Coinciding with the release of Radiohead's "pay what you like" album, BooServer announces the launch of their artist-driven Global Online Media Player.

London (Billboard Publicity Wire) October 10, 2007 -- Coinciding with the release of Radiohead's "pay what you like" album, BooServer announces the launch of their artist-driven Global Online Media Player.

"We suspect we may be the first media distributor to deliver 'pay what you like' music and film as well as fixed price and ad-supported. We pitched to Radiohead's management back in the spring so we're thrilled they've taken the bold step to deliver their album like this," said Harry Amies, founder of BooServer.

We suspect we may be the first media distributor to deliver 'pay what you like' music and film as well as fixed price and ad-supported. We pitched to Radiohead's management back in the spring so we're thrilled they've taken the bold step to deliver their album like this
The BooServer Online Media Player, launched today, not only allows you to store your music and film collection online, to play unrestricted on nearly any internet connected device, it also allows artists & publishers to distribute their tracks, decide exactly how much they want to charge, and get the full revenue for their work.

Asked how he expected to build a distribution business on "pay what you like" Amies had this to say, "You can't take a percentage on nothing, so we don't. All artists and publishers get 100% of their download revenues and 100% of their page ad-revenue. We just provide flat-rate broadcast media hosting."

The service differs too from traditional download sites in that when you buy an album on BooServer you buy a "feed" from the artist which means you'll get updates, live recordings and new original material from your favorites updating live in your personal player.

"I get bored of recordings quickly, they're identical every time you play, that's what's so exciting about a live performance, it's new dynamic and fresh, what artistic expression is all about. BooServer mixes the positives of recordings and a live experience by delivering live updating feeds… we're calling it a Full-Player, like a Long-Player (LP) or EP, only it's a fuller experience."

Announcing also their choice of Limelight Networks, the content delivery network (CDN) made famous for their delivery of both MySpace and YouTube networks, BooServer launches with a heritage of solid, reliable, global, instant online media delivery.

The BooServer demo is now live, and the full site will be unleashed gradually over the autumn.
