Kara Suzanne Appearing October 18th At The Stephen Talkhouse as Part of The 2007 Hampton's Film Festival

Kara Suzanne and her band The Gojo Hearts are appearing at The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, NY as part of the after-party entertainment during the 2007 Hampton's Film Festival. Her first independently released album "Aumsville" won Best Album of Year Vox Populi in the Folk Singer-Songwriter Category of the Musician's Atlas' Independent Music Awards.

New York, NY (Billboard Publicity Wire) October 2, 2007 -- Hailed by critics and rockers alike as the "Emmylou Harris" of her generation, singer-songwriter Kara Suzanne and her band The Gojo Hearts are pleased to announce that their first full-length album "Aumsville" has won Best Album of the Year in the Folk Singer-Songwriter Category Vox Populi from the Independent Music Awards. They will be performing at The Stephen Talkhouse, in Amagansett on Thursday Oct 18th at 8pm as part of the after-party entertainment during the Hampton's Film Festival.

With fans as diverse as Rufus Wainwright and Moby, and a favorite among the New York and Brooklyn alt-country and rock scene, Kara Suzanne made her name playing with the likes of The Animators, Yarn and Photograph at New York City alt-venues including The Living Room, Southpaw and the Knitting Factory, as well as taking center stage during the 2006 cmj and the Fall and Spring Greenhome nyc benefits. This is their second year appearing at the Film Festival they've also played the past two years during the Nantucket Film Festival.

I came from a background where my family was both the trailer trash and the pillars of the community and they were neighbors.
Kara Suzanne's music, an alt-rock combination of Americana, old school country, rock and folk, cuts through the self-indulgent music scene morass. A run-away native of McMinnville, Oregon, Kara Suzanne always strives to keep her lyrics from being mired in sentimentality or layered in clichés. "I came from a background where my family was both the trailer trash and the pillars of the community and they were neighbors." says Kara. "It made for a crazy education of life, but it's also an inspiring source for song-writing."

Rounding out the Gojo Hearts are Steve Lewis, playing electric guitar and pedal steel; Dave Cieri on piano and Wurlitzer; Jordan Scanella on electric and double bass; and Jay Fredrick on drums and percussion.

All songs written by Kara Suzanne "Aumsville" is available through cdBaby, iTunes and Miles of Music. It was independently produced by Bryan Pugh, Putnam Murdock and Kara Suzanne and was put out on Kara's own Sublimity Records label.
