Isiah Records in Jerusalem -- Again
Prophecy is alive and recorded. Vegetarian Wolf, Jerusaleman's (a.k.a. Ofer Golany) 7th CD, recorded with 12 Jerusalem musicians, creates a niche of its own. Speaking in Tongues. Zappa meets Carlebach. Lennon meets Lubavitch. Alternating between English and Hebrew, Reggea, Rock , Rap and Chanson coexist with Ska, Flamenco Folk and 7/8ths. The 12 cuts throw in bits of Arabic, Yiddish and Russian. Just as waking up in Jerusalem would. More humorous than holy it is the most played CD at the second coming. Available @ www.cdbaby.com/ofer7
(Billboard Publicity Wire) November 21, 2006 -- Prophecy isn't dead. Its alive and recording and, as usual, Jerusalem has the highest concentration of prophets. Christians who believe in a second coming admit, if they think about it, that if the Christ they believe in were to return….. Sorry, when, not if, he returns…. he would speak Hebrew or Aramaic rather than English, Spanish or Chinese and would come to Jerusalem rather than Detroit, Tijuana or Shanghai.
700 years before Jesus Isiah prophesized, also in Jerusalem, about a time, at the end of days, sometime in the 21st century, when "nation will not lift up sword against nation…..and the wolf will lay down with the lamb". The Jews already had a written language. So we have the text. In Hebrew. Digital recording came later as did Jesus' PR people- the Holy Roman Empire- and televangelists who capitalized distribution rights and later renegotiated, proselytized and translated to 700 languages.
If Isiah appeared today he would probably be a rapper and as idealistic, outspoken and controversial as he was than. But he would still record in Jerusalem, in Hebrew, with translations and a bass and percussion. Believe it, prophecy happens. Isiah is back in Jerusalem and posting on the web. The CD was originally called seeds- Zraim in Hebrew - but a channeling of Yehoyada - a high priest from Isiah's time- changed it to Zeev im Keves - Wolf with Lamb. Zayin, the 7th letter figures here big-time.
Vegetarian Wolf, Jerusaleman's (a.k.a. Ofer Golany) 7th commercially available CD, recorded with 12 Jerusalem musicians, creates a niche of its own. Speaking in tongues. Jerusalem Masala. Frank Zappa cast as Reb Zappa meets Reb Carlebach. John Lennon meets the Lubavitcher Rebbe. In musicians heaven where they jam they tuned into this studio. The songs alternates between English and Hebrew, usually with 2 languages in the same song.
Musically, it is as eclectic as Ofer, known as the Human Jukebox in the late 90s when he played every bar in Jerusalem , is. Reggae, Rock, Rap and Chanson coexist with Ska, Blues, Flamenco, Folk and 7/8ths. The 12 cuts throw in bits of Arabic, Yiddish and Russian. Just as waking up in Jerusalem after an evangelist rapture would.
More humorous than holy it is the most played CD at the second coming. On the street where Jerusaleman lives you are as likely to hear English as Hebrew. If you want to meet Vegetarian Wolf, you need to come to Jerusalem or to go to www.cdbaby.com/ofer7
